Elaine Philpott

Associate Archivist

Elaine Philpott has always loved history so it was natural that she pursued a degree in Historic Preservation. As a person with deep roots in the Stone-Campbell heritage, she has found her niche in working at the Historical Society. “As I uncover the historical treasures that are here,” Elaine says, “I feel I am surrounded by a ‘great cloud of witnesses’ whose stories need to be preserved and told.” Her favorite thing about working at the Society is finding and preserving precious photographs that bear witness to the work of God through the Stone-Campbell heritage.

Elaine and her husband, Stephen, are active in First Christian Church, Shelbyville, TN. They live on Wayside Farms, a 600 acre dairy and beef farm which has been designated a “Century Farm” as it has been in Stephen’s family since 1838. They have three grown sons.
